Blue Smoke from CBR1000RR 2005

Blue Smoke from CBR1000RR 2005

Hi lads, looking for some help. Have a cbr 1000rr 05 that has started having blue smoke from the exhaust. It started three weeks ago with the tick over becoming slightly erratic. The bike will start but cuts out and is not rideable. I changed the plugs and there was quite a bit of carbon so replaced them. Put vacuum gauges on throttle bodies and only small adjustment was necessary, this was all done before it became a big problem. Checked reg/rectifier and got readings to say all is ok there. Same with alternator. Am lost here now so any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.

Alone in the Wilderness

Alone in the Wilderness

A film about a man named d*** proenneke living the dream… well, the dream if you were to swap the boat for a yz 450 maybe.

Tis a fairly amazing film, he was a skilled man. d*** moved to Alaska in the late 60’s, built his log cabin by hand and lived almost completely off the land until he was well into his 80’s. The film covers the 1st year which he recorded on the Gopro of the day.. the spring-wound Bolex.
Even if you’re not into all the nature stuff watching his wood working is pretty cool.

Trailer(first 10 minutes includes the cabin being built)

250cc v's Superbikes @ Kirkistown Sunflower Races

250cc v's Superbikes @ Kirkistown Sunflower Races

Gary Cowan in the 1989 grand prix trail on the Dutch backed production TZ 250 Yamaha, in the superbike races. The organisers tried to talk him out of it, pointing out that Ron Haslam was bringing the Pepsi Cola RG 500 suzuki, Brian Morrison on the 750 RC Honda, Steve Cull with the super fast rotary Norton, Eddie Laycock aboard his 500 GP Honda etc. However, Gary brought the 250 to the line in 3rd place.

zzr1100 dropped no 3 cylinder

zzr1100 dropped no 3 cylinder

After backing off the choke when starting yesterday bike ran lumpy and found that no3 cylinder not firing

had limited time due to no workshop and getting dark so could only change the plugs. still no3 not kicking in

bike needed for work so had to ride it on the three remaining

got limited time so question is in what order best to check to try find problem

can switch 2 suppressor caps to see if problem transfers (not coil as no2 cylinder would go as well)

diaphragms next likely (how would I check them with carbs in place)

really don’t want the carbs off, unless last resort, to check for s***e in float bowls as that will leave me bikeless if I cant get them back on again cos of the dark. Off Thursday & Friday so don’t mind tackling it then

anything else I could eliminate before carbs have to come off ??
